Employee Information -> Workplace Safety
Workplace Safety

Lutheran Augustana Center for Extended Care & Rehabilitation is committed to providing a safe workplace environment to protect our employees from injury or illness. All employees shall receive basic training on how to recognize and protect themselves from various hazardous materials and waste. A key component to achieving our safety objective is the employee’s responsibility to always utilize safe practices when performing his or her job and to promptly notify his or her Supervisor of any unsafe equipment or condition so that corrective action may be taken.

Employee training will be provided upon employment, when an employee changes jobs to one that exposes him or her to hazards which he or she has not been trained, when a new hazard is introduced into the employee’s workplace, or when new information becomes available about a substance (chemical) already in use in the workplace.

Material-Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) are accessible to employees for every chemical used in the facility considered hazardous by the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard’s definitions. MSDS’s are available on each nursing unit, in the executive office, in each respective department and at the reception desk in the main lobby.

The Director of Environmental Services serves as the facility’s Safety Officer. The Safety Committee meets every six weeks and is comprised of employees representing each department.

Augustana values the opinion of its employees and welcomes any suggestions regarding workplace safety or other matters affecting an employee’s job.
